This introductory session focused on understanding AI as the most transformative technology of our time and adopting an AI-First mindset. Participants explored how technological revolutions are accelerating, with AI reaching mass adoption much faster than electricity, computers, or the internet. The class introduced the evolution of AI through four stages: Perception AI (recognizing patterns), Generative AI (creating content), Agentic AI (taking actions and completing tasks), and the emerging era of Physical AI (robots and autonomous systems). A key message was that AI should be viewed as a tool that augments human capabilities rather than replaces people. Success in the AI era will depend on continuous learning, adaptability, and the ability to integrate AI into everyday work. The instructor emphasized that AI users are likely to outperform non-AI users, making AI literacy an essential professional skill. Participants also learned practical prompting techniques, including the ACDQ framework (Act, Context, Details, Questions) and Zero-, One-, and Few-Shot Prompting, and observed live demonstrations of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Google AI Studio, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, image generation, and video analysis. Key takeaway: Develop an AI-First mindset by treating AI as a powerful collaborator that can enhance productivity, automate repetitive tasks, and enable individuals to achieve goals that previously required much larger teams.
